Hail Test Propulsion Mechanism
This was a project in my senior year where I had to develop a propulsion mechanism for launching Ice spheres at solar panels. we conceptualized the design, selected materials for 3D printing and the base. For it to be a rail system, worked with Aluminum extrusions and bearing wheels and mounted it all to be controlled by a stepper motor for precision on a timing belt. The video shows how we had to do rapid prototyping for the mechanism. The speeds went up to 30-35 m/s to meet standards for hail testing.

Carbon Fiber Landing Gear

We designed and prototyped a Carbon Fiber Landing gear after a tear down study of an imported landing gear. We had to make different iterations of moulds for this composite, but we settled on a CNC milled hard foam mould. We used the process of Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Moulding for the Manufacturing. This project helped me explore design for composite materials, how they interact with different layups and epoxy resins and it allowed me to test the accuracy of software like ANSYS with real world bending and flexural tests. As a part of a bigger project we used this landing gear on an aeroplane designed for the SAE International Aero Design East and tested it.
